I'm a quitter...

I hate quitting... but... 30 day blog journal - I'm throwing in the towel.

I'm just a loser who can't commit to blogging EVERY.SINGLE.DAY. sorry, but I admit it. After missing a few days from being sick and then I missed a few more days after my birthday because I just plain forgot... it's time... so, sorry 30 day blog journal, after 20 days, I'm done.

Day 20: A Hobby

My hobby????

Oh, I'm so excited to announce that I've taken my back up hobby of scrap-booking! I used to do it ALL.THE.TIME! I have one book from high school days, one from college days, and another that well... isn't updated past about 2004. Ooops.

It was a little bit of a slow start because when I got the urge to do it again, I went to the craft store, got some new pens and a few new things that would help me decorate, I got home and realized my photo printer was out of ink... um, ya you can't possibly scrapbook with no pictures?! So, I ordered a few cartridges and in the meantime, organized all my stuff. Then I went to Costco to have some pictures printed out and the other night I knocked out the first 5 pages of Landon's scrapbook.

I was pretty proud of myself!

Oh and BTW... HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME!!!!! :)

Day 17: An Art Piece

I'm not really into art all that much... but I'm weird and I really like Graffiti.

Oh man...

Sooooo it appears I made it to day 16 of the 30 Day Blog Journal. And then... we all got sick :(

I'll catch up I promise... it just might take me a little longer than 30 days to finish it. Speaking of finishing, because we're all sickos right now, the 30 Day Shred took a little backseat as well. I've been pretty good though, 11 days in I've only skipped 4 days and I fully intend to add every skipped day onto the end so I now am working toward a 34 Day Shred :)

So anyway, Landon came down with this cold first. Last Sunday I noticed a little cough, told Adam to watch for it on Monday and by Tuesday it was in full effect. I stayed home from work and took him into the doctor (not our regular doctor) who gave him a full once over and checked him out. She basically said though that if it gets worse to come back. Thanks doc! So then by Tuesday night I started getting a sore throat and I think Adam started getting it on Friday. It's some kind of sinus cold or something. After the sore throat starts then the congestion and sinus headache sets in and now 5 days later, I'm a snot machine!!! It's getting better though and Landon's cough is almost gone. Oh our babysitter has it now too :) Lucky him!

Day 16 - A Song That Makes You Cry (or nearly)

It doesn't really make me cry but it makes me all sappy cause it's Adam and I's song :)

It's your Love - Tim Mcgraw & Faith Hill

Dancin' in the dark
Middle of the night
Takin' your heart
And holdin' it tight

Emotional touch
Touchin' my skin
And askin' you to do
What you've been doin' all over again

Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in
I just gotta let you know
What it is that won't let me go

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell I'm under
oh It's your love

Better than I was
More than I am
And all of this happened
By takin' your hand

And who I am now
Is who I wanted to be
And now that we're together
I'm stronger than ever
I'm happy and free

Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in, no
And if you asked me why I changed
All I gotta do is say your sweet name

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell I'm under
oh It's your love

Oh, baby (Faith)

(Instrumental)

Oh, it's a beautiful thing
Don't think I can keep it all in
I just gotta let you know
What it is that won't let me go

It's your love
It just does somethin' to me
It sends a shock right through me
I can't get enough
And if you wonder
About the spell I'm under
oh It's your love
It's your love
It's your love

Day 15 : My Dream House

Oiy Vey!

Really???

I've been planning my dream house for some time now... at least 4 bedrooms, at least 3 bathrooms, walk in closets, a huge pantry, island in the kitchen, wrap around deck, landscaped yard, master bathroom, day windows, family room, wet bar, theater room, in ground pool, hot tub, on a lake somewhere, boat dock, private launch, DISHWASHER... lol, ya know, the little things :)

This'll do... hehe :)

Day 14 : A Non-Fictional Book

Cookbooks are non-fictional right? Well, if not oh well... here's one that I really want to buy :) I get a subscription to the magazine thanks to my momma (and originally my grandma!) and I've been eyeballing the cookbook for months!

Day 13: A Fictional Book

Clive Barker's The Thief of Always is a REALLY weird book that I remember reading when I was in like junior high. It's one of the first books that I didn't have to read for school that I remember actually sitting down and being curious about. I also remember going to the library to pick up some of his other books... he's a weird writer... and I think I gave the rest of his books the side eye and didn't finish any of them?!

Day 11: A Photo of you Recently

Well, how appropriate - I feel like I never have pictures of myself but I was out at my parents house this last weekend and my sister snapped this one of myself and Landon... it made me laugh :)

Here's another... more PC version... for you viewing pleasure!

30 Day Shred

Alright everyone... I tried doing this on my maternity leave but I think between juggling a new baby, housework, and just plain being a lazy ass, I didn't make it the 30 days. Honestly, I didn't even make it 2 weeks.

The fact that I've gained ALL the weight I lost after I had Landon plus officially now 1 lb has pushed me to the point of disgust with my body. I was down 9 lbs from my pre-pregnancy weight and I was REALLY proud of myself as I was only within 5 lbs of my goal weight... and now to be 15lbs to that goal weight is really depressing.

Why am I blogging about this??? One word...

ACCOUNTABILITY.

If you haven't heard about 30 Day Shred, here's some info.

"Jillian Michaels, winning trainer on NBC's "The Biggest Loser," helps you lose big - up to 20 pounds in 30 days! Her "30-Day Shred" DVD includes three 20-minute circuit-training workouts that burn mega calories and build strong, lean muscle. Each workout is progressively harder, so start with the Level 1 and when you are ready, progress to Level 2 and then Level 3. Each level contains a 20-minute workout based on Jillian's exclusive 3-2-1 Strength/Cardio/Ab training circuit: 3 minutes of strength, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of ab work. There's also a brief warm-up session and a cool-down stretch. Follow Jillian's program for 30 days and you will see amazing results." - Content provided by the publisher

We'll see.... Today was Day 1 - Day 30 = October 8th... stay tuned.

Day 10: A Photo Taken Over 10 Years Ago of Me

Erg... ok I'm embarrassed.

Actually, 20 something me was probably a better version of the current me. The current me could stand to lose 10 lbs and doesn't take pictures of herself very often. The 20 something version of me probably THOUGHT she could stand to lose 10 lbs. I wish I could go back and slap her :)

Anyway, I think this pictures is one of the first few pictures of Adam and myself, and was almost exactly 10 years ago. Enjoy!

Dinner Impossible...

Well go figure... I planned a yummy dinner tonight and before I could tell Adam he had made plans to go hunting after work. Erg... such is the life of a hunter - during hunting season I should pretty much not count on him for dinner - it was good by myself anyway. He'll be enjoying the cold leftover version here shortly when he gets home :)

French's Onion Chicken

Ingredients:
  • Boneless skinless chicken breasts
  • Mustard (either regular yellow or dijon works)
  • French's Fried Onions
Directions:
Thaw chicken and remove fat. Coat in mustard. Crush up onions and coat chicken. Bake at 350 degrees for 45 min or until cooked through.

Twice Baked Potatoes

Ingredients:
  • Baker potatoes
  • Butter
  • Gorgonzola Cheese
  • Bacon bits
  • Milk
Directions:
Bake or microwave potatoes until partially cooked and soft to the touch. Cut off tops and scoop out centers. Place a few crumbles of Gorgonzola cheese and 1/2 tbsp of butter in the bottom of each skin - bake in the oven on 350 degrees for 30 min. While the skins are baking, mash the inside of the potatoes with milk and butter. After the skins are done, fill with mashed potatoes. Top with cheese crumbles and bacon bits and cook until cheese is melted and bubbly.

Cheesy Bacon Green Beans

Ingredients:
  • Fresh green beans
  • 3-4 slices of bacon
  • Gorgonzola cheese
  • Almond slices
Directions:
Cook bacon and set aside to cool and crumble. Place almonds in the oven to roast on 350 degrees for 15 -20 minutes or until golden. Blanche green beans. Saute green beans in bacon grease. Place on serving dish and top with bacon, Gorgonzola crumbles and almonds.

So there ya go! My yummy dinner... topped with a glass of Chardonnay - I'm not sure that's the right pairing but it suited me just fine :) Cheers!

Day 9: A Photo I Took

Ummmmm.... seriously?! I have to pick one?! I take WAY too many pictures - mostly these days of Landon :) So - I thought maybe I'd pick one of my first baby... Jo Bear :)

Day 8: A Photo That Makes Me Angry/Sad

OK this photo doesn't really make me sad... it makes me giggle - but when I first thought of a picture to post for this day, animal cruelty or neglect came to mind. You know those ASPCA commercials where all the animals are waiting to be adopted... that's my sad photo that I see...

Love like you'll never be hurt,

Day 4: Favorite Book

I'd like to say my favorite book is some kind of legendary literary classic or something... but its not - I'm a chick, who's obsessed with Sex and the City and so what better than to pick a book from the creator of SATC but Candace Bushnell. They also tried to make a TV show out of this book but I think it flopped.

Day 3: Favorite TV Show

This is obvious if you know me AT ALL... SATC baby! I was going to put it for favorite movie since technically it is but then I wouldn't have had a favorite TV show - or I would have had to use it twice, and that's just no fun :)
