Nooooo! I don't hate pizza in general but unless it's from Coverleaf... no thanks. I'd rather make it myself than buy something from the freezer section {which really isn't just limited to pizza?!} or from a chain pizza place. Blech.
So I finally found a pizza crust that I enjoy AND a sauce that we like! The following recipe is most definitely our favorite pizza to make at home but I also enjoy good old homemade {or Cloverleaf} House Favorite... with Olives of course! :)
Homemade Pizza Crust {Bread Maker}
Ingredients
1 cup water plus 2 tablespoons water
2 tablespoons oil
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
Directions
- Place ingredients in pan in order listed or as directed per machine instructions. Select white dough cycle.
- When machine is finished, remove and form into crusts. Top with desired toppings and bake at 400 degrees F for 18-20 minutes or until crust is light brown
White Pizza Sauce
Ingredients
Directions
- Heat butter in a small saucepan. Add flour and stir until thoroughly mixed.
- Slowly whisk in milk, adding gradually. Stir in remaining ingredients. Will thicken upon standing.
For OUR pizza we top with with shredded/sliced chicken {usually leftover from a previous recipe}, 1 small onion sauteed in butter, and about a half dozen sliced mushrooms. Along with mozzarella cheese of course! YUM!
Cheers!
